The Committee for Modern Courts
The Committee for Modern Courts, the lobbying and advocacy affiliate of the Fund for Modern Courts.

Judicial Selection
The cornerstone of Modern Courts' mission; Modern Courts endorses the system known as a commission based appointive system" or "merit selection."

Court Restructuring
The Committee for Modern Courts supports the New York State Unified Court System proposal to restructure the state’s trial court system to make it more efficient, effective and accessible.

Judicial Salaries
The Committee for Modern Courts strongly supports increasing judicial salaries and creating an appropriate procedure that would ensure judges in New York State receive adequate compensation into the future.

Town and Village Courts
The Committee for Modern Courts supports the Office of Court Administration's Action Plan for Town and Village Justice Courts. Modern Courts has formed a Task Force to further study Town and Village Justice Courts in New York State.

Judicial Diversity
The Committee for Modern Courts is outspoken in its support for a diverse judiciary. A judiciary which reflects the broad diversity of the state enhances public confidence in the administration of justice.

Independent Public Defense Commission
The Committee for Modern Courts supports the findings of the Final Report to the Chief Judge of the State of New York by the Commission on the Future of Indigent Defense Services.

Rockefeller Drug Laws
The Committee for Modern Courts supports Rockefeller Drug Law reform that preserves the independence of the judiciary by restoring judicial discretion in sentencing drug defendants.

The Committee for Modern Courts
The Committee for Modern Courts, the lobbying and advocacy affiliate of the Fund for Modern Courts, is a private, nonpartisan nonprofit organization organized under § 501(c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Code. The Committee lobbies for legislation designed to improve the administration of justice in New York. Contributions to the Committee for Modern Courts are not tax-deductible.
